Stinson Vineyards, in the White Hall area first opened it's tasting room on June 16th 2011, and is the newest winery on the Appellation, and Monticello Wine Trail. It is a great addition to Central Virginia's wineries. This, like many of our area wineries, is a family owned and operated establishment. Scott, Martha, and their two daughters all tend the vines, tasting room, or some other aspect of the project.
Scott Stinson is an architect who built the appealing tasting room in the garagiste style. This refers to a group of innovative winemakers in the Bordeaux region, producing "Vins de garage", "Garage wine". The tasting room is light filled, comfortable and inviting.
Martha Stinson took her love of gardening and applied it to their grapes. Her attention to detail is clearly evidenced on the palette.
Rachel is Stinson's wine maker. She has been very impressed with the willingness of other wine makers to share their experience. In particular Matthieu Finot, from King Family Vineyards.
Rebecca is in charge of marketing and the tasting room!
One special feature that localvoure’s will love; Stinson sells their and other local produce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, herbs, eggs, and beef! Grab some home grown tomatoes and other vegetables when you visit.
The entire family is extremely gracious, charming, and interesting. Enjoy the wines, views and welcome our newest wine making family to the area.
