This year's artisan series will focus on the art and craft of fermentation. Eight speakers have been assembled who have dedicated their time, interest, and energy to fermenting.

April 6th – Eliza Evans Portrait Session

 

Come to Blenheim on Saturday, April 6th from 2-5pm for a glass of wine and to have Eliza Evans paint a portrait of you! The portraits are very affordable. Her art show featuring her portrait paintings is currently hanging in the Blenheim tasting room.

 


4/11/13 – Blenheim Artisan Series – KOMBUCHA – Ethan Zuckerman

 

Ethan Zuckerman, master brewer at Barefoot Bucha, will be at Blenheim to talk about kombucha. Barefoot Bucha is one our local kombucha makers, headquartered in nearby Nelson County.

Have you ever wondered how it’s made? What exactly it is? What makes it so darn good? Come to this talk to find out!

New Work at Blenheim Vineyards

Opening Reception Friday, April 26 6-8 pm with music by Kurt Rascal and Oldie Hawn

Taking Time is a new series of photographs that pieces together images from the past and present to look intimately at the sentimental nature of photographs and photography.

Ashley Florence holds an MFA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a BA in German from the University of Virginia. She has studied at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and the Kunsthochschule Weissensee in Berlin. She has exhibited work at the North Carolina Museum of Art, LUMP gallery in Raleigh, NC, the New York Photo Festival in DUMBO, Brooklyn and published work in Cabinet magazine and the Human Being Journal. She currently lives in Charlottesville, VA.

Jay Rostow, vinegar maker at Virginia Vinegar Works, is coming to talk to us all about vinegar. Jay makes vinegar from local wine and beer and can be found at wineries and at the Charlottesville City Market, among other places. Jay loves to talk about vinegar, so don’t miss this chance to hear him talk, taste some vinegar, and ask any questions you may have.

April 28th – Library Series – an afternoon of art and music

 

Featuring a one night art show in the historic Summer Kitchen by local painter Dave Moore with a live concert in the library with musicians Adam Larrabee and Jesse Harper of Love Canon. Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the spring afternoon with family or friends on the lawn between the two shows and enjoy some Blenheim wine! The event is free, and wine is available for purchase (always $5 per glass).

About Dave Moore:

Dave Moore is a Virginian painter from Hampton, via Richmond and VCU. He has shown his paintings all over the state and all around the country. He has lived in and around the Charlottesville area since 2003, and is currently working on large scale-paintings for a show in Richmond at Gallery 5, opening Friday, May 3rd.

His work can also be found in constant rotation at Comfort restaurant in Richmond, and online atwww.lowlandking.com and on facebook.

May 3rd – James Beard Nominee Dinner with Ian Boden and Lee Gregory

 

James Beard Nominee Dinner with guest chefs Ian Boden of Glass Haus Kitchen and Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt, in collaboration with Hill and Holler

Join us for a four course family-style dinner prepared by two highly acclaimed Virginia chefs who were both nominated for a 2013 James Beard Award. “Covering all aspects of the industry—from chefs and restaurateurs to cookbook authors and food journalists to restaurant designers and architects and more—the Beard Awards are the highest honor for food and beverage professionals working in North America. The awards are presented each spring at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Nominees and winners are fêted at a weekend of events in New York City that has become the social and gastronomic highlight of the year.” The evening will begin at 5:30 with passed canapés followed by dinner served on the tented lawn and paired with Blenheim wines. Tickets are $100 per person and go to support the James Beard Foundation and the local food movement.
